Listed below is a link to the monitor on Dell's website, and they state that their monitor includes 2 HDMI (HDCP 2.2) ports and a Display 1.2 port. My question is which port should I use for my case, considering that I'd like to get the full use of my intended monitor - 1440p at 100Hz on a widescreen monitor?
The Switch one says “high speed hdmi cable” but nothing about if it’s 2.1 or not. Idk if “high speed” and “ultra high speed” are two different things or just marketing bs Archived post.

That is where the new generation of HDMI 2.1 steps in. Continue reading to learn what HDMI 2.1 is and how this technology benefits your gaming experience. Or check out ViewSonic ELITE monitors equipped with HDMI 2.1 capabilities for an expanded game setup. Before we move on to HDMI 2.1, it will be useful to understand what HDMI is.

The 2.1 specification brings it up to speed to the current state of home cinema, as well as casting an eye towards the future. HDMI 2.1 adds support for: Higher video resolutions including 4K
For 4k at 120hz. 3840x2160 x 120hz = 995,328,000 pixels. 10K at 120hz is 5.3 times more pixels per second than 4k at 120hz. Even 4k at 240Hz gives us 1,990,656,000 pixels per second which is 2.67 times less than 10K at 120fps. Therefore, why doesn’t HDMI 2.1 version allow 4k at 240hz or 8k at above 120hz?
Given that it's 2023, there isn't really a valid excuse nowadays to not putting HDMI 2.1 on a monitor. But in past years, these types of monitors were targeted at desktop users with a beefy GPU that can output 4K, connecting through DisplayPort and not HDMI. Considering that until recently, 4K high refresh rate was near impossible on most
I read an article earlier which made this point: "If you're buying the more budget-minded Xbox Series S, the console also has an HDMI 2.1 port, but it instead targets a resolution of 1440p at 120fps, which HDMI 2.0 can already support. But using 2.1 on the Series S will still give you the benefits of dynamic HDR as well as improved color and

Yes, true, i have done some research and HDMI v2.0 do support atmos in a compressed format via Dolby digital plus ( Max 5.1). Rear speakers for watching YouTube ( supports only stereo 2 channel) will always be low but for a 5.1 format it will be activated based on sounds ( Example: gun firings, thunders, door opening/closing ) escargot3.

Kinda silly. Yes. Your monitor will need an HDMI 2.1 input and you'll need to use HDMI 2.1 cables in order to utilize 120hz for console systems at 4K. If your monitor is 1080p or 1440p with 120hz, you can get 120hz in those modes I believe with HDMI cables iirc. So it's my understanding if you want 4K @ 120hz, you'll need to have a monitor with hE002w.
